Dexter Season Four Finale Sets a Record for Showtime
If you missed last night's finale to what arguably was the best season yet of Showtime's excellent series Dexter, then you better do your best to avoid spoilers until you can catch up. After all, considering 2.6 million people watched it, odds are pretty good someone you know was among them.
Variety reports that Dexter's fourth season finale was the most-watched episode of any show in the history of Showtime. [The] Michael C. Hall starrer has been a big hit for the cabler. A week ago, the penultimate episode of the season drew 2.1 million viewers, which was the highest audience in 10 years for Showtime, but last night's finale shatters that short-lived record.
Based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, “Dexter” follows Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, an employee at the Miami Metropolitan Police Department's Crime Lab, but by night he is a self-proclaimed psychopath who meticulously murders the very same serial killers he tracks by day.
"Dexter" Season Four starred Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, Julie Benz, James Remar, David Zayas, Keith Carradine, Lauren Vélez, C.S. Lee, Desmond Harrington, and Courtney Ford. John Lithgow joined the cast as a special guest portraying the "Trinity" killer.
We couldn't be happier for Hall, Lithgow, Carpenter, Benz and the rest of the Dexter gang, although with the turn of events that went down Sunday evening, it certainly will be interesting to see which familiar faces return for Season Five and which don't.
