New Director in Talks for James Wan's House of HorrorsWith the departure of Xavier Gens from Dimension Films’ House of Horror comes word of a new director looking to take the helm of the James Wan presented scare fest from a screenplay by Max La Bella. Read on for details.

Bloody Disgusting reports that Will Canon (Brotherhood) is in talks to get behind the camera. In addition, Maria Bello is said to still be in talks to star as Dr. Elizabeth Klein. Look for more info on this soon.

Synopsis
The Devil made me do it.

The House of Horror is a horror-thriller that centers around a gruesome crime scene. The film is shot with a blend of found footage, interrogation video, news cameras and classical cinematography. The film focuses on the aftermath of an horrific massacre: five college students, brutally murdered inside a decrepit, abandoned home.

We are thrown right into the mix as the lead Detective, Mark Lewis, and the police department’s psychologist, Dr. Elizabeth Klein, question a suspect. The young man at the center is John Ascot, bound by handcuffs in a mobile command station. During the interrogation John explains everything leading up to the deaths of his friends.

We discover that they were amateur ghost-hunters, seeking out paranormal phenomenon at the abandoned house believed to be haunted. What started out as a harmless activity turned into something truly terrifying and more than they ever could bargain for. John explains to the police that he isn’t responsible for his friends’ deaths, but rather, it was the house. He tells them he believes the house is a gateway to hell, a place of concentrated evil.

We slowly witness an eerie change in John’s demeanor through the course of the movie. Things take a disturbing turn when John hints at the notion that he is possessed by the Devil. Detective Lewis and Dr. Klein are forced to unravel the mystery of how John’s friends were murdered. All this leads to a stunning revelation about the man they’ve been interrogating and a gut-wrenching conclusion.

Death House Theatrical Release Delayed One Week Due to Black Panther Success

Published

on

Death House

If you were excited to see Death House this week, you’re going to have to pump your brakes as the film’s theatrical release has been postponed one week due to the success of Disney/Marvel’s Black Panther.

Eric Pakrinson, C.E.O. of Hannover House, who is distributing Death House in theaters, states, “Obviously, we are very disappointed to find such pressure from the exhibitors to hold-over multiple screens for ‘Black Panther’ but we are happy for the success that this film is providing to theatre owners, and we know that the slight delay we are implementing for ‘Death House’ will ultimately pay big dividends for the film.”

The plan is to now launch Death House on Friday, March 2nd with a special media event and public opening at the Regency Plant 16 in Van Nuys, California, where 20 cast members, along with additional crew, will be present. From there, the film will spread to other markets on March 9 and March 16. If performances are strong, additional markets will be added following those dates.

This shift in release also pushes back the home video and digital release dates to July, although no official date has been locked.

Director Harrison Smith recorded a video asking the horror community to turn out in droves when the film hits their market. You can see it below.
