The most amazing thing about the trailer for the remake of Maniac is that it really feels like Maniac and not just some cash in redux. This latest trailer has us sold. Check it out inside. We wholeheartedly approve!

Directed by Franck Khalfoun and produced by Alexandre Aja and Gregory Lavasseur, Maniac casts Elijah Wood in the role of a serial killer who works at a shop that sells antique mannequins. Nora Arnezeder (Safe House) co-stars.

Synopsis:
Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt.

Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

Look for more as it comes.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

Don’t forget he was creepy in Sin City as well. I’ve never really liked him for some reason, but he is a good actor. This looks good – it doesn’t seem to be a straight up remake. Maybe now I should watch the original on Netflix (it kept showing up on instant), seeing a trailer for the remake makes me think that Netflix once again screwed up when it came to the description it gave for the film.

Can’t wait for MANIAC now; it looks like it could easily outstrip the original. Here’s hoping Elijah will pull it off and revitalize his career. He’s a damn good actor and it’s a shame he hasn’t done much since Lord of The Rings.

Alright I admit it. It looks like its worth watching. And yes Alex Aja does excellent remakes. Its just the thing with Joe Spinnel. i always thought the scariest part of the original Maniac were the scenes where Frank converses with what He believes is his mother. “They Dont Know” and stuff like that. And of course the head explosion by a shotgun scene courtesy of and featuring Tom Savini. please just tell Me they wont do a CGI explosion of the head. Id rather they just leave it out.

c’mon guys you know Alexandre Aja will do some justice to a remake, even if he is not directing. and boy does this remake do some Justice

This trailer is incredible. Holy shit. Just straight up Holy shit.

Best thing about it? The title frame at the bottom has: “Based on the Film directed by William Lustig ‘Maniac’.”

Yeah I really like that they included that, too

  • The Woman In Black

Wow – this does look pretty awesome and intense. I knew Elijah could pull it off! Remember how weird he was in Eternal Sunshine?
