A Reboot to Scream AboutHow do you apply a bandage to an ailing company? Simple, you go back to what made it strong in the first place, your franchise titles. At least that’s the Weinsteins’ latest formula for success. Starting with Scream 4 and the now returning to the series Neve Campbell.

According to Variety Scream 4 will start production in April or May as the first of a new trilogy, and the company is talking to Wes Craven to direct, Bob Weinstein reports. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette will star.

But the news doesn’t end there. In addition, the company wants to shoot Halloween III in 3D, aiming to release it in October 2010. (A Halloween movie on Halloween? Somebody pinch us!) We’ll also be seeing yet another remake of Children of the Corn.

I’m heading back to my franchise films,” Weinstein declared, citing plans to shoot sequels to Hellraiser and Scanners in 3D. Also on the slate are Short Circuit and American Werewolf in London. Weinstein added, “These films are our strength, and we are committed to doing them in style.”

It’s gonna be an interesting year, folks. Hang tight!
