2nd Viral for Cloverfield 2?

Around three weeks ago we showed you what could very well have been the first viral video for Cloverfield 2. Fake or not, everyone was pretty much in agreement that it was pretty badass, if not a little too much on the nose. How would the second video fare? Find out now!

Though not as cool as the first one, which you can watch by clicking the above link, this latest one still retains that "Holy shit! Something really bad has either just happened or is going to happen!" feeling. As a giant monster movie buff, this gets to me on such a good level. So no more waiting. Feast your eyes and tell us what you think below. Come back, Clovie! We've missed ya!

I don't buy it. There's no punch, not a hint of anything that gets your attention and wanting more. You would think a real trailer would have a sound, a shadow, something that gives you that 'oh shit' feeling rather than a 'huh?'

But whatever. Personally the found footage has been done. The bits and pieces from other home cameras would be interesting perhaps as a dvd special feature but not standing alone. More people on the ground will be simple repetition. News footage, like the War of the Worlds thing would be interesting but wouldn't play theatrically.

I think you go straight out traditional giant monster movie and if you look for an angle you work in some bits from the original from a different perspective.

Maybe they're starting kinda small and ramping it up gradually?

The sequel I thought should be done in the format of a broadcast news program. Start the flick with some coverage of the Chiau Drilling Station Disaster covered in the viral video. Then to Clover's landfall in Manhattan. Along with up to the minute coverage of the event, including military response ,and the reaction to the parasite bites, you have the news anchors ,and reporters interviewing pundits, and whatever group of experts the news business can scrape up. It should be done in the much like the 1994 teleflick WITHOUT WARNING and 1983 one, SPECIAL BULLETIN. Or the one that really got people freaking out like rats in a burning meth lab, Orson Welles take on the WAR OF THE WORLDS.

The first teaser for Cloverfield may not have shown the monster, but it did not shy away from showing some action, something neither of these did. The entire having taped over something else in the first movie was an interesting way to convey a bit of backstory, and I sincerely hope they do not try that again in a sequel.

Fake...

The first one was a homemade tape with some bad composition shot a the end and this one has....nothing.

Cloverfield was shot hand held but not with digital "let's film the kids" camera.

Compare these "new" teasers with the Cloverfield teasers/trailers...you will understand what I mean.
Fake...

The mind is like a parachute...it only works when it is open.

Didn't See It Coming's picture

If it's as good as the first one, I don't care where it takes place, what perspective it's from, or if these are real or not. I just know I want Cloverfield 2.

if this was really Cloverfield 2 teases one would think people would be making much more of a stink about it by now. The fact that no one is and no one has even questioned J.J. Abrams yet leaves much to be said. Personally I'd much rather see the sequel be from a journalistic point of view. This way we can still get all the confusion and pandemonium but also actually get to see the fuckin monster do something. For allwe know it was doing the Hokey-pokey and dry humping buildings in the original imo.

I'm not sure how this video is supposed to relate to Cloverfield 2 at all. I didn't see anything beyond it being a handycam video, some military and being set in NYC that relates at all to Cloverfield.

are we even sure these are for cloverfiend 2? And is this a sequel or the same story from a different view. This girl here says she lives in NYC and that's where the first movie takes place. Someone on youtube said that first video was in santa monica california
