Venice International Film Festival Announces Line-Up
Although Cannes, Toronto, and a few other film fests garner the lion's share of media attention, the Venice International Film Festival is certainly no slouch, as evidenced by the fact that it's just about to celebrate its 66th anniversary. The fest's line-up was announced today, and we're happy to report that quite a few genre offerings were included, both in and out of competition.
The two competitors that stand out the most for horror fans are the long awaited The Road, directed by John Hillcoat, and Survival of the Dead, George A. Romero's latest installment in his Dead oeuvre. Other "thriller" type films that will be shown during the fest's September 2-12 run are La Doppia Ora from Giuseppe Capotondi (Italy), Accident from Cheang Pou-Soi (China/Hong Kong), and Tetsuo Bullet Man from Shinya Tsukamoto (Japan).
More goodies can be found on the out of competition list: Joe Dante's The Hole and Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza's sequel REC 2.
