The news that Adrian Brody has signed on for Vincenzo (Cube) Natali’s Splice is not really news, as we told you about it weeks ago (“Brody to Splice” – September 2007). However, he now has a lovely female assistant.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Dead, Beowulf & Grendel) has been cast alongside the long-faced actor in Natali’s tale of two scientists (Polley and Brody) who become superstars when they successfully splice DNA from different animals together to create new creatures, which eventually turns on them and gets very ugly.
Splice is set to roll this November in Toronto with Guillermo del Toro and Don Murphy both on board as executive producers. This is definitely going to be Natali’s biggest film to date, and it’s a creature feature to boot, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on its progress!
