UniversalUniversal Studios is planning on a trip to the infamous Bermuda Triangle after jumping on a recent pitch made by “Smallville” producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

THR’s Heat Vision Blog is reporting that the as-of-now untitled genre flick will be produced by Scott Stuber (Battleship) and that the story comes from an original idea from Stuber centered on the infamous Caribbean area traditionally cornered by the Florida Straits, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. The area has been home to several unusual disappearances attributed to supernatural or alien origins.

Gough and Millar will write the script, and we’ll be working to bring you more detail on this as we have it. Can’t say I was the biggest fan of “Smallville” after Season Three, but this is a premise with a lot of potential, depending on where these guys choose to take it. As long as they stay away from meteor freaks.
