The Daily Dead
Though Bela Lugosi usually gets all the love, lots of actors have portrayed the role of the nefarious Count Dracula. Of special note is the portrayal given by Christopher Lee for Hammer, which is widely regarded as the best of them all. Hammer knew what they were doing, and they’re now looking to rekindle some long burned out fires.
Our friends over at The Daily Dead recently caught up with Hammer historian, author Marcus Hearn, who reports that the newly relaunched studio has interest in sharpening up the old fangs.
“The company’s chairman, Simon Oakes, is talking about making a new Dracula and setting it in present-day London,” says Hearn. “It’s fun to speculate who could step into Christopher Lee’s shoes. Just last year I would probably have dismissed the idea of another Hammer Dracula as quite far-fetched, but I think the success of The Woman in Black has opened up all sorts of possibilities.”
Sounds tasty! Keep it here for more.
