50 Cent Teams with Abel Ferrara for Jekyll and Hyde
Attention those of you who balked at Keanu Reeves starring in a new Jekyll and Hyde film -- Hold on to your collective asses! Director Abel Ferrara is making his return to horror with a new telling of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale starring Forest Whitaker and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. We can hear your stunned silence from here.
Yep, get ready to file this one under "What the fuck?" as Variety reports that Whitaker will be playing the role of the good Dr. Jekyll who upon drinking a 40 of O.E. will turn into the gangsta rapper badboy Mr. Hyde. Ok, that's not what Variety actually said but the basic gist of it is true.
"The combination of such formidable talent in front of and behind the camera will turn this wonderful gothic story into a modern classic for a whole new generation," executive-producer Luc Roeg tells Variety.
Color me stunned.

Remember two years ago when we told you that Screen Gems was in the process of getting a remake of Tom Holland's 1985 classic Fright Night off the ground? No? Who could blame ya! Talk of this happening surfaces every now and then, so get ready for the latest!

See, this is just backwards.
Fittycent should be the Jekyll character, a struggling rapper trying to get by in a world that is against him... and the OE transforms him into the Whitaker/Hyde character. A greedy record company exec who wants to sell out rappers to the man.

I'll be suprised if he has the acting chops to put behind it. If he does, he gets all sorts of new respect from me. If not, well, no harm no foul.
I'm not going to put this one down until I see it.
