It’s great news that this film is finally getting a home video release. However, it should not fall by the wayside that Warner Bros. only allowed the BFI to sub-license a SD version of the heavily cut UK theatrical edit, refusing to allow the BFI to release the film on Blu-Ray despite negotiations that went on for years. In addition they were so up in arms over the infamous “Rape of Christ” scene that they insisted said scene be deleted from the HELL ON EARTH documentary, which in its uncut incarnation, was an examination of all the cut scenes and the reasoning behind their removal.

I applaud the BFI for their efforts and have already ordered the DVD. Just know that you’re not getting what could have been the definitive release of this masterpiece and know who is to blame.
