Director Xavier Gens took a moment to share with fans a bit of concept art from his flick Cold Skin that features the flick’s monster. David Slade was once attached to direct this adaptation of the Albert Sánchez Piñol novel before Gens took the reigns.

We wouldn’t look for this anytime soon, though, as it’s been kicking around since 2009 and Gens is in currently in development on several other projects including James Wan’s House of Horrors.

Cold Skin was Piñol’s debut novel. The book chronicles the stay of an unnamed weather official on a remote island in the south Atlantic close to the Antarctic Circle. The film adaptation was written by 28 Weeks Later‘s Jesus Olmo.

Synopsis
On the edge of the Antarctic Circle, in the years after World War One, a steamship approaches a desolate island far from all shipping lanes. On board is a young man, on his way to assume the post of weather observer, to live in solitude at the end of the earth. But on shore he finds no trace of the man whom he has been sent to replace, just a deranged castaway who has witnessed a horror he refuses to name. For the next twelve months his entire world will consist of a deserted cabin, trees, rocks, silence and the surrounding sea. Then night begins to fall…
