Deodato Has Giallos on Horizon

Ruggero DeodatoLove it or hate it, one cannot deny the lasting (and somewhat infamous) legacy of Italian horror maestro Ruggero Deodato’s cult film Cannibal Holocaust.

It’s been almost 16 years since the director has stepped behind a camera for a full-length feature film, but from what he told the crowds at the Fangoria Weekend of Horror in Chicago, it seems he’s ready to get back into the game.

While not necessarily starting off his comeback with a Cannibal Holocaust sequel, Deodato is looking to dabble again in the realm of giallo films (his last time was with Phantom of Death) .

Deodato told fans, “I have written the scripts for three new giallo movies. I am especially fond of one of these scripts. It is a more serious take on the giallo – it is not crazy like some of the recent Dario Argento pictures. It is very realistic although it still has the violence which the fans will expect.

While Deodato gave no official script or shooting details, we’ll make sure to keep you posted with any news that comes our way in the future!
