Writer of The Orgphanage to direct HomecomingSpanish films are becoming more and more the hip thing right now, and the success of Juan Antonio Bayona’s The Orphanage (pictured) has done nothing to dissuade that building trend.

Daily Variety broke the news that Orphanage screenwriter Sergio Sanchez will be benefiting from it very soon, as he’s just inked a deal for Rodar y Rodar to produce his directorial debut, The Homecoming. The film is about a brother and sister who go on vacation with their parents, only to return to a world that is noticeably absent of other people. Score! In addition to Homecoming, Sanchez is polishing the script for a future Guillermo del Toro ghost story called 3993.

Rodar y Rodar are also producing Guillem Morales’ Julia’s Eyes, the follow up to the director’s critically acclaimed Spanish-language debut The Uncertain Guest, which will tell the story of a young woman investigating the suicide of her blind sister.

Keep it here for details on both projects as more is revealed!
