Man, what’s happened to Jan De Bont? Speed was great, Twister was fun (if only for the flying cow), and as for The Haunting … well … WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS?!?! SOME TYPE OF GAME?!? Hopefully with his latest flick he can rebound.

According to Deadline, as producers Joseph and Jack Nasser prepare to unveil the Sundance film For a Good Time, Call…, they’ve made a deal to team with Jan De Bont on Five Minutes to Live, also known as Door-to-Door Maniac, a film that De Bont will direct based on the 1961 Johnny Cash film.

Written by Raul Inglis (Transparency), the story follows two men as they execute a terrifying bank robbery. One guys holds the bank manager’s wife hostage, and the other tells the manager she’ll be killed in five minutes unless he transfers money to an account of their choosing.

Nasser Entertainment/Nasser Group North is financing the film. Paradigm Motion Picture Finance Group is packaging the project and represents North American rights. Casting will begin immediately.

Check out the vintage artwork below. and you know what? Dig on one of our favorite Johnny Cash songs, too!
