While it’s only now starting to sink in that Rise of the Planet of the Apes was really as good as everyone claimed when it was released this past summer, there’s been plenty of speculation as to where the inevitable sequel might go. Today we’ve got a little more information straight from Caesar himself, Andy Serkis!
Serkis was interviewed by IGN about his role, and the conversation inevitably turned toward the next film in the franchise with Serkis having this to say: “I think wherever it goes, and it is in its infancy in terms of where we are taking the story, it will certainly have conflict and it will certainly have Caesar having to make decisions about managing his own kind and, also, the survivors of the virus and making sure they can co-exist. I believe that’s where it is going.”
You can dig the whole interview below. It’s quite an engaging chat that covers not only a follow-up movie but also the nuances of his performance and the road to be recognized at the Academy Awards.
