There’s a lot of crazy shit going on with our brothers to the north where the Toronto International Film Festival is going down as we speak. Bloody Disgusting are stalking the clean streets of the city with their ears open and over the weekend picked up a bit of casting news about Cube helmer Vincenzo Natali’s latest, Splice.
The news? That none other than King Kong monkey tamer Adrien Brody will be starring in the film, likely in the lead as Clive. Along with his partner Elsa, Clive mixes the DNA of a humans and animals just to see what happens. A deformed infant is born but soon grows in a beautiful winged chimera and a bond is formed between her creators. But, since this is a monster we’re talking about, things eventually turn ugly.
As was not pointed out the last time we reported on this (“Natali’s Splice Details” – May 2007), Guillermo del Toro will be producing the film for Natali, which was originally supposed to roll in August but obviously had a bit of setback.
