As promised in the story we posted this past weekend showing off a few stills from Tobe Hooper’s (hopefully) upcoming film Djinn, a trailer has arrived! In addition, Image Nation has responded to the rumors that the film’s release is in trouble. Read on for the details.
If you read our previous story, it appeared that Djinn‘s release was potentially being blocked by its producers after a member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi saw it and judged it “unfit to provide an accurate image of the UAE.” Now, according to tbreak.com, a spokesperson from Image Nation told them:
“These rumours are unfounded. Djinn is in active post-production, and Image Nation looks forward to releasing the film in theatres later this year. As for offers, there have been no formal offers made for Djinn.”
Alrighty then. We’ll continue to remain optimistic that things will get worked out and the film will be released by year-end.
Djinn follows an Emirati couple who return home from a trip and discover that their new apartment in a luxury high-rise built on the site of an abandoned fishing village is also home to the malevolent beings known as “djinn.”
