Screenwriter Kristi Barnett Breaking New Ground, Preparing to Unleash a Horror Experience ... on TwitterVariety’s Jeff Sneider posted a couple of tweets today with regard to the Spike Lee-helmed remake of Oldboy that don’t bode very well for the progress of the film, but even so, our interest remains piqued, and we’ll continue to keep our eyes on things for you.

First, @TheInSneider, as he’s known in the Twitterverse, posted:

Twitter Exclusive: OLDBOY pushing back to late summer/early fall b/c of JOSH BROLIN’s press commitments for MEN IN BLACK 3.

Next came the news that really disappointed us:

UPDATE: Don’t expect CLIVE OWEN to play the villain in OLDBOY. When asked if maybe Owen would be playing someone else, Sneider wrote: Nobody. Don’t think they could make the deal work…

And the beat goes on.

Oldboy centers on a man (Brolin) who is kidnapped on his daughter’s birthday and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path to take revenge on those who destroyed his life.
