In The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, WWE star turned actor Dave Bautista portrays conflicted deadly ghost warrior Argomael, who is summoned by Billy Zane’s maniacal evil warlord Talus in order to destroy an empire and dominate anyone who may try and stand in the way of Talus’ plan to rule the land, and we’re happy to share an exclusive video interview with the wrestling legend.
A six-time world champion and trained MMA fighter, Bautista was a natural fit into the world of Scorpion King 3, and during the recent press day for the film, Dread Central sat down for a chat with the former wrestler about his role in the flick, which was written specifically for him. Bautista also gave us a little insight into conflicted warrior Argomael and how his martial arts background lent itself well to the fight sequences in the sequel.
During our interview Bautista also chatted us up about another Universal project set to debut sometime in 2012: The Man with the Iron Fists, which was directed and co-written by RZA (genre favorite Eli Roth co-wrote as well) and also stars Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Pam Grier, Jamie Chung and Rick Yune.
“The movie is pretty amazing. I think it’s going to blow people’s heads off, especially if you’re a fan of kung fu movies,” said Bautista. “It has everything you could want in a kung fu style movie and then so much more because of RZA’s fantasy approach to the story. There’s such a great, multi-ethnic cast involved that really makes this feel fresh and like an entirely new and modern approach to this genre of movies. My character is such a badass too- I think fans are really going to be blown away.”
