A relatively short list for Tuesday, September 4th, 2007…

Directed by Sandor Stern

Just like we always knew would happen, the evil infesting the iconic Long Island house manages to escape and travel to California via a lamp. Yes, that’s right, a lamp. While there, it decides, being evil and all, that it will torture a young girl (mentally, of course) by manifesting itself as her dead father. Seems so trivial, really, but then evil’s never been about big steps when it comes to its Amityville incarnation, has it? And why the hell is this getting released by itself when almost all the other entries in the series are packaged with at least one other? Weird. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger! The Murder Game (2007)
Directed by Robert Harari

Wow, now stop me if you’ve heard this one before; a group of kids get together for a murder game, in which one of them is selected to be a “killer” and has to “kill” the other people he or she is playing. They head off to a self-storage warehouse to play their game and at first it’s all fine … until they start dying for real! (cue terror music) So now there’s real death all around them and those surviving need to get out and/or stop the killer before the game is, quite literally, up. Buy it here!

Directed by Alex Zamm

I know, R.L. Stine isn’t exactly the hardest of the hardcore, but the kids have to start their love of horror somewhere, right? Seems like a good enough place to me. The story here is about a girl named Cassie who moves to a school ruled by a beautiful girl, and the rivalry that starts up between them almost instantly. But when the pretty girl goes missing along with Cassie’s younger brother, something horrific is apparently at the heart of it all… otherwise why would it be on this site? Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Unholy (2007)
Directed by Daryl Goldberg

Now this is a movie I’ve been waiting to see for quite a while now; we’ve been reporting on it for years, from every stage of production, so it’s a bit of relief that it’s finally coming home this week. Of course, if it’s any good is still up in the air. Unholy is the story of a mother and son trying to deal with the suicide of their offspring/sibling, who uttered the cryptic words “beware the experiment” before blowing her brains out. Nazis and strange stuff in middle America lie at the heart of the truth they seek. Buy it here!

Click to see it bigger!Werewolf in a Women’s Prison (2006)
Directed by Jeff Leroy

Wow, a lesbian women in prison movie with werewolves? What the hell else could you ask for in your late-night, lonely man rentals? This is the story of a women who, while out camping with her boyfriend, is bitten by a werewolf. She awakens to find herself in a women’s prison, being the only suspect in her boyfriend’s gruesome death, and is forced to do things that only women in prison together have to do, most of which will hopefully involve nudity. Click to see it bigger!Wind Chill (2007)
Directed by Gregory Jacobs

Maybe I’m just out of it, but I really thought this was going to be a theatrical release by Sony, so imagine my surprise when it showed up here. Just… imagine it… Anyway, the story is about a college girl who gets a ride home for her winter break from a guy who, she soon finds out, knows way more about her than he should. When they take a turn off from the main road, which I’m betting he says is a shortcut, things start getting really spooky as apparitions appear and the girl wonders if she’s just simply lost her mind.
