New Hammer Film Ready to Roll!

New Hammmer film ready to roll! For years there has been talk of the once-famed Hammer Studios making a comeback to our genre, but to date nothing’s ever been seen from them. Most recently, the studio was taken over by a European consortium who said, yet again, that they would be producing some new horror with the Hammer name intact (“Another Return of Hammer?” – May 2007).

Well, it looks like these guys were telling the truth; we got word this weekend from the folks at Unofficial Hammer Films that a new Hammer film is set to role sometime this month. It’s called Beyond the Rave (which is … not a good title at all) and from what could be discovered it’s a vampire movie that will see both a standard and an episodic, internet-based release.

Where did such information come from? First and foremost the guys at Unofficial Hammer found a casting session held in the middle of August that you can read right here. From there some more digging was done and it was determined that Beyond the Rave will be art directed by Melanie Light, who last worked on Adam Mason’s The Devil’s Chair, and will be cut into 20 episodes for internet and mobile phones.

That really seems to be the new trend now, doesn’t it? Personally I’ve never watched an episodic show either online or on my phone, so I guess I don’t get it, but it sure is cheaper than a regular release.

Check out the news story on Unofficial Hammer Films for more of the details they managed to dig up, and look for an official announcement of Beyond the Rave soon!
