David Fincher Talks Black Hole and The GoonIt’s been a long while since last we heard anything of David Fincher’s take on Dark Horse Entertainment’s The Goon, but since his latest flick, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is ready to be unleashed, the visionary director is making the rounds and offering updates on both that and Black Hole.

[Creator] Eric [Powell]’s been working on it, and Tim’s been working on it, and Jeff (Fowler),” Fincher tells Super Hero Hype regarding the status of The Goon. “People continue to work on it and refine stuff, but it’s hard for me because I’m in Sweden so I can’t really make many production meetings, but the attempt is to in January really go out and try and figure out a price that makes sense.

The Goon follows a muscle-bound, stocky badass who fights demons, ghosts, werewolves, and anything else the supernatural wants to throw at him. It’s a fun, romping adventure through a world filled with monsters. Check out some early test footage below featuring voice work by Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown.

Fincher also talked briefly about his adaptation of Charles Burns’ award-winning graphic novel Black Hole, which was originally penned by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avery.

“It’s a really great script by Dante Harper so the hope is that will win out,” he explained. “It’s so weird. It’s so great because it would be great to see. It’s a very tough… there’s make-up FX and digital FX that are expensive, and to do it right, you gotta do it just right because it has to challenge your idea of the human body.
