Director Takashi Shimizu Discusses Delay on Parasite Led to His Latest Genre Project 7500Filmmaker Takashi Shimizu is currently working on his first-ever American feature film, 7500, a supernatural thriller that takes place on a plane. Dread Central recently was invited out to a set visit for the upcoming flick, and while we can’t divulge just yet Shimizu’s thoughts on 7500, we can share with you what led to his involvement with the project.

As it turns out, another US-based genre project entitled Parasite was originally going to be his feature film debut Stateside, but the movie got delayed a year, opening up his schedule to come on board 7500.

Shimizu said, “In April, when I came to the US for a meeting on Parasite, Roy (producer Lee) said he wanted to meet up when he first heard about this (7500) story. I told him I liked it and if we could do it, then let’s do it. But then everything ended up being delayed on Parasite for a year so now I’m here. But next year I’ll be here in the US doing my own original story (Parasite), which is also great, too.”

Look for more on 7500 and Shimizu closer to the film’s release, which is currently slated for August 31, 2012.
