Stephen King Promises Doctor Sleep Will Be Goddamn Scary!

For my money neither of the adaptations (film, TV miniseries) of Stephen King’s The Shining did the book justice, and it remains my favorite of everything he’s written, which is why I’m really looking forward to its sequel, Doctor Sleep, and am super happy to pass on King’s recent description of it.

According to the source of all things Stephen King, Lilja’s Library, on November 12th King announced that he was done with the second draft of Doctor Sleep. He also said that while critics have been very kind regarding 11/22/63, some have intimated that “maybe he was getting away from all that horror stuff.” Fortunately, King countered those comments with the following: “They won’t know what hit them with Doctor Sleep… It’s a goddamn scary book.”

Back in late September King read the following excerpt from Doctor Sleep, the plot of which includes a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe.
