We know there are a lot of genre festivals out there these days, but there’s one in particular that just popped up on our radars here at Dread Central: the Shockfest Film Festival of Hollywood, which celebrates short narratives, documentaries, and music videos that are different from the mainstream, films that move audiences (even if it means shaking them up), and of course some incredibly “shocking” flicks as well.
The 2011 fest is being held at Raleigh Studios (5300 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, California) on November 18th-19th. For their fourth year Shockfest is honoring some of the greats of our beloved genre including iconic actor Clint Howard, writer/director James Gunn and writer/director/producer/eternally busy guy Eli Roth, who is being awarded the “Shocking Filmmaker of the Decade Award” during the fest and will also be hosting a screening of his modern cult classic Cabin Fever,which will close out the fest.
Howard will also be celebrating the West Coast premiere of his latest indie flick Down the Road with filmmaker Jason Christopher in attendance as well. The Shockfest Awards will be handed out in style on the 19th at the Hard Rock Café in Hollywood.
