With its Hong Kong premiere set for December 1st, a few details, including a trailer and a pretty interesting poster, have emerged for Chris Chow’s directorial debut, Strawberry Cliff.

Synopsis:
Teenager Kate (Leslie-Anne Huff) has a rare gift: She can tell when people will die, down to the precise hour and minute, just by looking at them. One day she encounters Jason, who is supposed to die within hours according to Kate’s premonition. They make a peculiar deal: If there is such a thing as “the Afterlife”, Jason promises to send Kate a message after his death.

That night, as Kate predicted, Jason dies under mysterious circumstances. In the last moments of his life, Jason sees the vision of an ominous presence.

Days later a phone call from “the Afterlife” startles Kate and sets her off on a journey from Los Angeles to Hong Kong, where she encounters Darren (Eason Chan), a bartender who suffers from an “incomplete soul”. Together they embark on an adventure in search of the Afterlife and the identity of the ominous presence Jason witnessed. Unbeknownst to them, their quest leads to the most unexpected truth about life, death, and most important of all, love.

Per his bio on IMDB: Chow has his roots in China and Hong Kong, was educated in New York, and is now based in Los Angeles. Renowned as a screenwriter, his credits include Jet Li’s Fearless, Blood: The Last Vampire, and John Woo’s The Flying Tigers. He makes his directing debut with Strawberry Cliff, an English-language thriller that follows an American girl who travels to Hong Kong to unravel the mysteries of the afterlife. It premiered at Busan International Film Festival, was selected by the New York Asian American International Film Festival, and has distributors on board for a release in Asia and the US.
