Hear that cash register sound? I know might sound out of place in this modern day of computers and such; that’s just the sound made every time John Carpenter cashs in on another remake.
Daily Variety has finally solidified rumors that have been rolling around Tinseltown for a while now; Underworld helmer Len Wiseman will be in the director’s seat for the Gerard Butler-starring Escape From New York remake, which Black Hawk Down penner Ken Nolan is scripting.
Finally, no more speculation or rumors; we can just move forward with our grumblings about whether or not a remake is necessary and what difference it would really make if we were to determine it wasn’t. Sigh. At least Butler will make a good Snake Plissken, but he’s still got some mighty big shoes to fill. From the sounds of it, the remake will follow the same storyline as the original, though likely with more explosions.
