As another nudge to horror fans to remember to vote for the 26th director to be included in The ABCs of Death anthology film, producers Ant Timpson and Tim League have written a note to everyone who entered the contest and also put together a red-band compilation of some of the highlights from the “T Is for…” short films submitted for voting thus far.

The ABCs of Death is an anthology horror film featuring segments directed by over two dozen leading talents in contemporary genre film from around the world. The feature is comprised of 26 individual episodes, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet inspiring a single word about death. Currently in pre-production, the film’s producers reserved the 26th director slot for a worldwide contest to find tomorrow’s next great horror filmmaker. A winner will be chosen after online voting ends on November 1, 2011.

The search to find the 26th director has produced over 170 short films from the UK, the USA, Australia, Japan, France, Spain, Colombia, Ukraine, New Zealand, Croatia, Germany, Argentina, Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, Poland, Quebec, and Chile. The competition has yielded over 35,000 individual votes. Click here to view the entrants and select your favorite.

Here’s what Ant and Tim have to say to the 26th director contestants:

When we approached Magnolia Pictures with the concept of a 26th Director competition being part of the THE ABCs OF DEATH feature film, they were excited as us. And yet, the idea that a wildcard filmmaker could end up with a short inside the feature film still sounded risky to all of us to say the least!

However, we’d like to make it official just how fucking ecstatic we are with the competition overall. The number of entries exceeded all expectations, and so did the level of creativity and imagination on display. The talent shown in several submissions has been world class and foretells of a great future for horror cinema.

Since there can be only one eventual winner, we want to take a moment to acknowledge that a number of great submissions could have easily been included in the feature film. Unfortunately, though, there can be only one, which will be revealed on November 15th, 2011.

And so to every individual who participated in whatever capacity in THE ABCs OF DEATH 26th Director competition…

We thank you from the bottom of our very bloody hearts.
