Horror Writers Association Offers Guidelines to Writers and Free Swag Through October

We cover an absolute ton of horror films here on Dread Central, but don’t fear, horror writers; we’ve got you covered as well. As horror writers ourselves, we know the challenges you face if you’re just getting started in the business, or even if you’re a seasoned veteran, and we’ve got a group that can help you along the way… and to put a cherry on top, they’re giving away free stuff!
The Horror Writers Association is a group of amazing authors who are together to “…promote and protect the careers of professional horror writers…” according to their website. The roster includes such amazing names as Peter Straub, Graham Masterson, and the newest member – Dread Central’s own Doctor Gash! Whether you’re a novelist, screenwriter, poet or non-fiction writer, the HWA will have info to help you out.
The site is a great tool for writers as it offers writing tips and assistance in finding the right market and teaches about the industry in general. The Horror Writers Association is an excellent place for beginning authors to use for a resource and veterans to use to hone their craft. And you don’t even have to be a member to use many of their features. Once you get published and make some loot, you can look into joining the ranks. Now, on to the promised swag…
As you would assume, October is a big month for the HWA, and they are celebrating on their blog right up until Halloween. Each day a different blog entry will be posted highlighting a new horror writer/editor. And with each entry comes a chance to win work done by that author.
