In early September we told you about indie filmmaker Zack Parker’s somewhat unorthodox rollout schedule for his new film Scalene, and now we have an update from him with regard to the special features we can expect on the DVD and Blu-ray along with a trailer for one very special “extra”.

Winner of multiple awards, including the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature at Dances with Films in Los Angeles, Best Feature/Best Director at the Cincinnati Film Festival, and Best Drama/Best Film at the Geek Independent Film Festival, Scalene (review coming soon) is a perceptual thriller told from three points of view that revolves around a mother’s revenge after her mentally-challenged son is accused of a sexual assault by his college caretaker.

The film is currently available on DVD and will be released on Blu-ray exclusively via the Along the Tracks website on November 8th. In addition, look for Scalene on several VOD platforms in December.

Special features on both DVD and Blu-ray include:

  • Featurette – World Premiere / Q&A at Dances With Films
  • Featurette – Awards Ceremony at Dances With Films
  • Teaser and Theatrical Trailers

The Blu-ray will also exclusively include the documentary Perceiving Reality: The Making of Scalene, a 2-1/2-hour comprehensive look at the making of an independent film directed by Jakob Bilinski. The DVD contains the first 15 minutes only. Check out a trailer from the doc below.

Scalene stars recent Emmy Winner and veteran character actress Margo Martindale (F/X’s “Justified”, Showtime’s “Dexter”), Hanna Hall (Rob Zombie’s Halloween), and Adam Scarimbolo (Stake Land). It was written by Brandon Owens and Zack Parker, directed by Parker, and produced by Parker and Carlos Jimenez Flores.

    Rest in Peace: Dolores O’Riordan

Sad and shocking news has come in from the music world as Dolores O’Riordan, lead singer of The Cranberries, has been found dead at the all too young age of just 46.

According to the Associated Press, the singer’s publicist, Lindsey Holmes, confirmed she died in London, where she was recording. “No further details are available at this time,” Holmes said, adding that the singer’s family was “devastated” by the news.

London’s Metropolitan Police were summoned to a hotel just after 9:00 AM today. As of now her death is classified as “unexplained.”

During her career, O’Riordan provided music for the short film Z, Birdemic: Shock and Terror, Evilenko, and many more films and television projects. We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to extend our sincerest of condolences to Dolores’ family members, friends, and constituents.

If you, if you could return. Don’t let it burn. Don’t let it fade.
