Creation Entertainment Cancels All Upcoming Weekend of Horror EventsHorror fans, today is a sad day indeed. The folks at Creation Entertainment announced this morning via their Weekend of Horror Twitter account that they’ve scrapped any plans for upcoming WOH events during the next year.

Creation’s Twitter announcement stated: “It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Weekend of Horrors. For a variety of reasons, we felt unable to deliver the caliber of event our attendees have become accustomed to & this has necessitated the cancellation.”

And while it’s not really a secret that the events have been struggling to find their footing over the last few years (especially with the number of horror cons taking place all over the US now), this announcement is rather unfortunate because thousands of genre fans have made countless memories at these events throughout the years, and it has become an annual tradition for so many of us to venture out to the Weekend of Horrors to celebrate the genre we love.

Creation offered up no other news via Twitter, and its website has no official statement as of yet; however, Weekend of Horrors is no longer a featured event category on their line-up so it’s pretty evident they’ve made up their minds.

Good riddance. Creation is a soulless company that treats attendees like walking dollar signs. WOH died after Fango parted ways.

Here’s hoping the new regime at Fangoria revives it and restores it to its former glory like they did with the magazine.

This is probably all for the best. The last few WOH after Fangoria bowed out were pretty awful, the only bright spot being the RE-ANIMATOR reunion a few cons ago.

Let’s hope someone steps in to fill the void. Anyone wanna help me start a fan-run con without all the corporate b/s?

And don’t forget, we still have the rawrsome Monsterpalooza con, which has been blowing WOH out of the water since its inception.

You know, I just headed over to their website the other day to see what was up with the February WOH in Burbank I’d been hearing about and noticed it was no longer listed. Bummer. On the plus side, though, they’ve added Vampire Diaries cons to their repertoire. Wouldn’t mind spending a weekend with the Salvatore brothers.
