About Raven’s Hollow
Raven’s Hollow is an 11-minute short film co-written, directed, and animated by Colin Clarke, made entirely on home computers using off-the-shelf software. Clarke’s previous credits include Frankenstein vs. the Wolfman in 3D and the Gothic superhero short films Raven and Raven 2.

Raven’s Hollow is inspired by myths and ghost stories writer/director/animator Clarke heard while growing up in Northern Illinois, a geographical area of the United States known for vast fields of corn and agriculture. A local legend involving a vengeful farmer, childhood memories of the drive-in movie theater, and the enduring pop culture specter of a haunted scarecrow combined to form the basis of the film’s story.

“My hope is that audiences will find Raven’s Hollow to be a scary story,” says Clarke, “and also a love letter to the Halloween season, drive-in movie theaters, and the rural legends and ghost stories of the great American Midwest.”

In addition to CG animation, Raven’s Hollow incorporates a motion comic segment which transforms line art, drawn by Andrew Carlson, into three-dimensional animation. Raven’s Hollow was an Official Selection at the 2011 Mile High Horror Film Festival, 2011 Gen Con Film Festival, 2011 Dark Carnival Film Festival, 2011 Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival, and 2011 Tri-Cities International Fantastic Film Festival and was First Place Winner at the 2011 On the Waterfront Film Festival. The film also was shown as part of the Halloween edition of Rue Morgue & Unstable Ground’s Little Terrors Short Film Event in Toronto, Ontario.

Raven’s Hollow reunites the core creative team from Frankenstein vs. the Wolfman in 3D, including director/animator/co-producer/co-writer Colin Clarke, co-producer/audio designer Andrew Carlson, co-writer Marc Packard, and score composer Andrew Kalbfus. The film is a co-production between Daredevil Films and Darkhouse Productions.
