Release Date Shuffle: Piranha 3DD and The Amityville Horror: The Lost TapesSome bad news coming in for fans looking for a little haunting and carnage to hit theatres soon. Dimension has bumped two of its high-profile releases out of their scheduled dates and into the very vague “sometime in 2012″.

That’s right, kids. Piranha 3DD (originally slated for November 23rd) and The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes (originally slated for January 27th, 2012) have both been bumped. We’ll let you know when we have more for you on either. Sit tight.

Piranha 3DD reteams Feast director John Gulager and writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan in the sequel starring Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer and David Hasselhoff.

The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes showcases the events after the time of the original The Amityville Horror book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976. An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as The Amityville Horror … only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

That title for the ‘Piranha’ sequel has just got to go, lads. It wasn’t funny when it was originally announced and it’s even less funny a year or more later.

Plus, you just know there will be some fucking dummies who will think that it’s either (a), a re-release of ‘Piranha 3D’ or (b), a remake of ‘Piranha 3D’ and that will be somewhat reflected in the movie’s “disappointing” box office takings.

The upside about the bump is hopefully Piranha 3DD will be given a chance for promotion and for survival as it would have gone up against a lot of Thanksgiving films. Looking ahead, if they put it out in April; atm outside of Cabin in the Woods there are no other horror films and there are no 3D films that month. They have themselves a good window.

Comes as no surprise considering the lack of promotion in regards to Piranha 3DD. Damn.
