Rest in Peace - Charles NapierSadly, we’ve lost another big screen and small screen legend today, a character actor who’s embodied everything from good to evil … one of the greats. Charles Napier.

Napier, a movie and television actor who had a face you knew even if you didn’t know his name, died Wednesday in Memorial Hospital, Bakersfield, California, Greenlawn Funeral Directors confirmed late Wednesday afternoon, at the age of just 75.

While best known as Murdock in Rambo: First Blood Part II, Charles has graced our genre many times in everything from the original “Star Trek” television series to Maniac Cop 2 to even Dinocroc. He will be extremely missed.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Charles’ friends, family, and constituents. Thanks for the memories, good sir.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

“While best known as Murdock in Rambo: First Blood Part II, ”

I primarily remember him as the lead singer of the country band that tells John Belushi he’ll “look funny eating corn on the cob with no fucking teeth” in the Blues Brothers and as one of the unfortunate officers who meets a grisly end when Hannibal Lecter decides it’s time to escape his cell in Silence of the Lambs.

RIP to one of the all time greats. He will be sorely missed.
