Stephen King Brings a Shining Sequel to Life With Doctor Sleep

I’m sort of ashamed to admit I only read “The Shining” for the first time this summer. But I’m a big Stephen King fan, regardless, and have kept up with the majority of his recent output. That’s precisely why this bit of news excites me. King’s been on a winning streak with his last few forays into the horror genre so what better time to hone a sequel to one of his most beloved works?

While not much is known yet about this follow-up to “The Shining”, it’s called “Doctor Sleep” and, according to King’s official site, the story involves a grown-up Danny Torrance and a traveling group of vampires called ‘The Tribe’.

You can see the King reading an excerpt from “Doctor Sleep” below. It’s footage taken from this past weekend’s appearance at George Mason University.

If this is any indication, the master of literary horror hasn’t lost his touch. I can’t wait to hear how this ties in to the story at the Overlook Hotel, but this is going to be an absolute must read.
