Taking the most tumultuous road possible to the big screen is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Just about every conceivable thing short of Bill Murray refusing to read the script has happened (not that he was ever attached to this; we just couldn’t resist taking a jab), but finally an offer is out to someone to assume the lead role of “Elizabeth Bennet”.
According to Twitch Blake Lively (pictured right) has been offered the part in the upcoming film version of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Twitch confirms that director Craig Gillespie has met with the “Gossip Girl” star and she has been offered the lead role in the film. Among those who have passed so far are Natalie Portman (who’s serving here as producer), Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska, Scarlett Johansson, and who knows who else that hasn’t been publicly confirmed.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will be directed by Gillespie from a script by his Fright Night redux cohort Marti Noxon based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith. It centers on Elizabeth Bennet’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a virus that turns the dead into zombies. The story’s set in an alternate version of 19th Century England that features deadly ancestors roaming the countryside.
