Following in brother Ben’s (Bartleby in Dogma) angelic footsteps is Casey Affleck, who has just signed on to engage in a journey through hell in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Paradise Lost.
According to Variety Affleck is in negotiations to play the angel Gabriel in the flick coming at us via Legendary Pictures.
Alex Proyas (The Crow) is directing the heavenly epic, which is a big-budget adaptation of John Milton’s 17th Century poem. Bradley Cooper and Ben Walker star as warring archangels Lucifer and Michael, while Djimon Hounsou co-stars as Abdiel, the angel of death.
A six-winged angel, Gabriel was created by God to serve as a messenger.
After being cast out of Heaven, Lucifer mounts an army that battles the forces of good, and the film will have cutting-edge visual effects that will make these battles resemble 300 meets Lord of the Rings — but with winged warriors.
While Warner Bros is finalizing a release date, Paradise Lost is likely to reach theaters in fourth quarter 2013.
According to Deadline Camilla Belle (When a Stranger Calls) is Legendary Entertainment and Alex Proyas’ choice for the lead role of Eve in the film.
