Could it be true? Is Upstate New York, specifically the Poughkeepsie area, turning into a hotbed for horror? It’s no secret that one of my favorite horror fests is the Hudson Horror Show, presented in the Silver Cinemas South Hills 8. Now we can add another twisted event to the SilCin’s calendar. On November 5 Glen Baisley premieres his newest film, Fairview Falls, for local residents. And the best part? It’s free, free, free!

Fairview Falls is Baisley’s fourth feature film, and by reading the info on the film below, you’ll see it deals with some pretty heavy subject matter.

Kudos to Baisley for setting up this screening and for making it available for a very reasonable price. Maybe Poughkeepsie, NY can someday take its place amongst the other horror Meccas: Salem, MA; Rosewell, NM; Poughkeepsie … I can see it now!

From the Press Release
Award winning independent filmmaker Glen Baisley, will premiere his fourth feature film on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11 PM at the Silver Cinemas South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Baisley is no stranger to controversy. His first movie, Fear of the Dark (celebrating its 10th anniversary this October) caused quite a commotion before it screened at the 2001 Putnam County Film & Video Festival due to nudity and graphic violence. It was finally screened uncut at a midnight showing to a packed room. The movie introduced Light & Dark Productions’ signature villain, the Black Rose Killer.

The Tenement and Sins of the Father, Baisley’s second and third movies, built upon the story and themes from Fear of the Dark. The Tenement focused on the origin of the town’s villains, and Sins of the Father ended the trilogy with a story about the Black Rose Killer seeking redemption.

Baisley describes Fairview Falls as “The Breakfast Club with a horror twist.” Fairview Falls is a roller coaster ride blending horror and drama. It touches on strong subject matter such as drug addiction, molestation and teen suicide. In a town full of lies and denial about its past, the graduating class of Fairview Falls prepares for a summer of fun, but for some it may be their last.

The Fairview Falls movie premiere will be a free screening. Seats are limited. You can RSVP to the event on Facebook. The official fan page is located here. More information about the movie can be found at the Light and Dark website.
