First Look: Syfy’s Nightflyers Based on the Novella by George R.R. Martin

The upcoming Syfy series Nightflyers is based on a novella by George R.R. Martin (“Game of Thrones”) and, in a fun bit of trivia, is the most expensive show Syfy has ever produced. The more you know, right?

Today we have your first look at the show via a cool trailer.

And while we’re here, earlier this week THR revealed showrunner Daniel Cerone has exited the series due to, you guessed it, “creative differences.” So, in steps executive producer and pilot screenwriter Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train).

Anyhow, the trailer below features some cool behind-the-scenes moments and interviews as well as slick footage from the show, so I suggest giving the quick video a watch. After that let us know how excited you are for Syfy’s “Nightflyers” series below!

The series is executive produced by Buhler alongside Hypnotic’s Gene Klein (“Suits”), David Bartis (Mr. and Mrs. Smith), Doug Liman (“Suits”), Alison Rosenzweig, Michael Gaeta, Lloyd Ivan Miller, and Alice P. Neuhauser.

Andrew McCarthy is a producer-director, with Mike Cahill helming the pilot, and Martin is credited as exec producer. The series stars Gretchen Mol (“Boardwalk Empire”), Angus Sampson (Insidious), Sam Strike (Leatherface), Eoin Macken (“The Night Shift”), Maya Eshet (“Teen Wolf”), Jodie Turner-Smith (“The Last Ship”), David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6), and Brían F. O’Byrne (Million Dollar Baby).

“Nightflyers” hits Syfy this fall in the U.S. and will air on Netflix everywhere else.

Synopsis:
Eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small, tight-knit crew and a reclusive captain – in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place, they start to question each other – and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.
