The Walking Dead Shambles Away With an Emmy Award

The first 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards are being handed out this afternoon at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, and one show near and dear to our hearts has come home with the gold!

That’s right, kids. AMC’s hit series “The Walking Dead” based upon the Robert Kirkman zombie epic has taken home the Emmy for –

Kicking off a two-week long Fearfest, AMC will once again present viewers with a 90-minute premiere episode of “The Walking Dead”, airing at 9:00 PM ET on Sunday, October 16th, with six one-hour episodes in the weeks following. The final six episodes of the season will commence on Sunday, February 12th at 9:00 PM ET. The 90-minute version will also be launched globally on all Fox International Channels, following the US premiere the week of October 17th-23rd. Season Two will reach FOX audiences in 122 countries, speaking 35 languages and will be seen by over 200 million households globally.

In this latest season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” TV series, now helmed by Glen Mazzara, the survivors arrive at Hershel’s Farm, where we will meet Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson), a vet (as in a veterinarian); his daughter, Maggie (Lauren Cohan); and Otis (Pruitt Taylor Vince), the middle-aged ranch foreman who’s such a sweetheart that he all but loses it when he accidentally shoots a fellow survivor. The new cast members join series regulars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Sarah Wayne Callies as Lori Grimes, Jon Bernthal as Shane Walsh, Laurie Holden as Andrea, Jeffrey DeMunn as Dale, Steven Yeun as Glenn, and Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes.
