Rue Morgue Cinema Grabs Aaron Poole to Star in The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh

Rodrigo Gudino does not sleep. I’m convinced of it. Between running the Rue Morgue empire and now working on Rue Morgue Cinema’s first feature film, The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, I can’t see where the man has time to lay his head down to rest. And today he’s shared with us the name of the star of Rosalind Leigh: Canadian actor Aaron Poole.
Poole, a 2009 Genie Award Best Actor nominee, has been featured in such films as This Beautiful City, Killing Zelda Sparks and Adoration.
The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh will begin filming in October in Toronto, and horror fans can only imagine what the mind of Mr. Gudino has waiting for them. Stay tuned for more info!

Aaron Poole, who in recent years has taken the independent film industry by storm with fierce character portrayals in such festival favorites as Circumstance (Sundance ‘09) and Small Town Murder Songs (TIFF ‘09) and whose work has garnered him award recognition from ACTRA (for This Beautiful City) and a nomination from Canada’s prestigious Academy awards, the Genies (Best Actor 2009), has signed on for the lead role in award-winning director Rodrigo Gudiño’s feature film debut The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, currently in pre-production.
Poole plays Leon Leigh, an antiques collector who inherits a house from his deceased mother only to discover that she had been living in a shrine devoted to a mysterious cult of angels. Once there he begins to suspect that the forces that drove his mother to suicide may still be lurking within the house.
“Rodrigo’s script is terrifying, stylish, and ultimately surprisingly moving,” says Poole. “I’m really proud to be working with him on Rue Morgue Cinema’s first feature.”
A graduate of George Brown Theatre School with training in the Strasberg and Meisner techniques, Poole sizzled in his defining performance as a cracked-out street hustler in Ed Gass-Donnelly’s This Beautiful City. His performance met with rave reviews following the film’s premiere at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and garnered him a 2009 Genie Award nomination for Best Actor, a category he shared with Canadian icon Paul Gross and the legendary Christopher Plummer. Poole won the Best Actor ACTRA Award that same year for the role.
Since This Beautiful City, Poole has played a recurring role on TMN’s “Z.O.S.: Zone of Separation” and was featured in Atom Egoyan’s Adoration. The following year he also traveled with Egoyan to Armenia to begin shooting an ongoing collaboration with the filmmaker.
Following the 2011 Sundance Audience Choice award-winning feature Circumstance, Poole once again teamed up with Ed Gass-Donnelly and producer Lee Kim for their indie hit Small Town Murder Songs, also starring Peter Stormare, Martha Plimpton, and Jill Hennessy.
Currently, Poole can be seen in HBO Canada’s “Living In Your Car,” episodes of CTV’s “Flashpoint” and CBC’s “Republic of Doyle” and as a series regular in Shaw Media’s new series “King”. He also has a supporting lead in the upcoming Samuel L. Jackson film The Samaritan.
The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh commences shooting in October in Toronto in one of the city’s most unusual homes and best kept secrets and will feature cinematography by Derek Rogers (Cube, Resident Evil: Apocalypse) and FX work by Anthony Burns (MTV).
