Rest in Peace: John Gavin

Sad news as The Exorcist director William Friedkin has announced via Twitter the passing of John Gavin, who not only acted for over two decades but was also Ronald Reagan’s first ambassador to Mexico. Gavin is known to horror fans for his portrayal of Sam Loomis from Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film Psycho. Loomis was the boyfriend of Marion Crane and ultimately helped stop Norman Bates in the climax of the film. He also played Julius Caesar in Spartacus and appeared in two episodes of “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour”.

Gavin would have been 87 this April.

We send our condolences to his family and friends in this sad time. We also thank him for being a part of one of the greatest horror films of all time.
