Be Awed by these Illustrations of Horror Characters Drawn with Cuphead’s Art Style

Published

on

We all know that Cuphead was one of the best indie games of 2017, so if you haven’t already played it, I implore you to do so immediately.

Artist Matthew Hutchinson was clearly one of the many people who were awed by the 2D run and gun shooter, as he created a series of images depicting famous horror icons as they would look in the world of Cuphead. All of his insanely gorgeous images were shared on his Imgur and Instagram accounts and have been collected in the gallery below. You’ll probably be amazed at how at home the horrendous characters look when drawn with the game’s cel shaded art-style, although Gary Oldman’s Dracula hairstyle will always look ridiculous, no matter how it’s drawn.

Cuphead was developed and published by StudioMDHR and holds a hugely impressive score of 86% on Metacritic. Since it launched on both the Xbox One and PC, it’s gone on to sell over two million copies, so a sequel is looking likely. Although I have to say, looking at these images, I find myself pining for a spin-off horror game set in the Cuphead universe rather than a straightforward sequel. Just imagine how much fun a boss battle against one of these guys would be.

Anyway, let us know in the comments which of Hutchinson’s illustration is your favorite. My money’s on the maniacally grinning Freddy Krueger.

Santa Clarita Diet Season 2 Hits Netflix This March

Published

on

Earlier this week we shared your first look at the upcoming second season of Netflix’s zom-com Santa Clarita Diet starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant via a big batch of stills.  If you missed those images, you can check them out HERE.

In that post we said we would let you know as soon as there was an official release date for Season 2, and today we have just that! Yes, “Santa Clarita Diet’ Season 2 will be hitting Netflix streaming on March 23rd.

Like I’ve said before, and will say again, I was a big-ish fan of the first season so I’m looking forward to more blood, guts, and suburbia/soccer mom humor this March.

Plus, you’ve got to love the pairing of Barrymore and Olyphant. It’s like if Casey Becker survived the original Scream, and married Mickey from Scream 2. Again, gotta love it.

Are you excited? Let us know below and check out Season 1 right HERE.

Synopsis:
In “Santa Clarita Diet” Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter, Abby (Liv Hewson), until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction…but in a good way.

Picking up right where we left off, Season 2 of “Santa Clarita Diet” finds the Hammonds trying to adapt to Sheila’s now-advanced undead state — even though she’s desperately working to hold on to her suburban lifestyle and not be defined as just another monster. Unfortunately — while the family has become markedly better at murder — the number of missing people in Santa Clarita is starting to pile up, and it’s no longer going unnoticed.

Meanwhile, the Hammonds are chasing the source of the virus so they can stop it from spreading and save humanity — which seems important. Through it all, Sheila and Joel are grounded by their unconditional love for one another. Sure, being undead — or loving someone who is — isn’t always easy, but don’t all relationships have their challenges?

Toy Fair 2018: Mezco Toyz Display a Ton of Stunning Horror Figures

Published

on

Mezco Toyz have absolutely killed it at this year’s Toy Fair, because they’ve showed off a wealth of stunning new horror figures. If I were a religious man, I would be praying to win the lottery so I can get my hands on all of these.

Firstly, they revealed new additions to their One:12 line of realistic action figures. To begin with, there’s Ash from Evil Dead II, and he’s looking groovier than ever, with Bruce Campbell’s likeness being instantly recognizable. The bloody wounds on his face are also a nice touch. Then there’s Jason from Friday the 13th Part III, the first film where he donned the now iconic hockey mask. The last figure depicts Michael Myers as he appeared in the original 1978 Halloween, and he looks ready to kill.

The label next to the displayed Ash figure says that it’s set to be released this summer, whilst the Jason figure will murder its way into stores sometime next year. The Michael Myers figure is already available to pre-order on Mezco’s website, and is expected to ship sometime between June and August of this year.

Other One:12 figures on display at the event included the iconic zombies from Dawn of the Dead and the team from the original Ghostbusters, along with Slimer, the franchise’s ghostly mascot. Although they’re not exactly horror movies, the figures of Alex from A Clockwork Orange and the dog-loving hitman John Wick from the film of the same name are also worth a look.

Mezco have given us some top quality Marvel collectibles over the years, so you probably won’t be too surprised to learn that their One:12 Marvel figures displayed at Toy Fair were also nothing short of spectacular. You can view the full Marvel lineup of figures here, with Blade, Doctor Strange, and the Punisher being particular standouts. If you’re an avid viewer of Netflix’s “Daredevil” MCU show, you’ll probably be glad to see that they’ve included variations of Matt Murock in both his black cloth costume and his shining red devil armor. On the DC side of things, the two figures of the psychotic Joker both looked about as crazy as you would expect.

Outside of the One:12 line, Mezco are also displaying both 7″ and 18″ figures of King Kong as he appeared in last year’s Skull Island, which is also presumably how he’ll look in 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong (although he was presumably wasn’t fully grown in Skull Island). I think I want them both.

Looking at the gallery below, why don’t you let us know in the comments which of the figures displayed by Mezco at Toy Fair is your favorite? Special thanks to The Toyark for sharing all the images.
