Exclusive: Read an Excerpt From Further Exhumed: The Strange Case of Phantasm Ravager

One of the most enduring and fascinating horror franchises is Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm series. I say this because it absolutely amazes me that the series has been going on for almost four decades and has yet to get a reboot or a remake. Instead, the series just keeps plowing on with new installments and is one of the longest-running franchises in the horror genre. What the series will do now that Angus Scrimm, who played The Tall Man, passed away in early 2016, I honestly don’t know. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

The last entry in the Phantasm series was 2016’s Phantasm: Ravager, which was the only film in the series to not be directed by Coscarelli (he produced and co-wrote the film). The story of how the film came to be is quite interesting as the idea for a fifth entry was discussed way back in 2004, six years after the release of the fourth Phantasm film, Oblivion. The ideas back then weren’t anything like what was eventually released but therein lies the intrigue. What did it take to make this movie? How was it shot? What stories were there prior to the final script?

All of these questions, and more, are answered in Dustin McNeill’s unauthorized companion Further Exhumed: The Strange Case of Phantasm Ravager. Packed with information, trivia, analyses, and fascinating details, the book is a deep dive into the fifth Phantasm film and, as such, is a must-have for any collector or fan.

So you can get an idea of the book, we’ve got an exclusive excerpt that you can read below. Then, if you so desire, you can pick up a copy on Amazon.
