DVD and Blu-ray Releases: January 30, 2018

Welcome back, folks. With the exception of the Blair Witch double feature and It Takes From Within, every single movie on this week’s list is a classic.
There are a couple of discrepancies to get out of the way. First, the Limited Edition Re-Animator Blu-ray (which is oddly similar to a pervious release) may not be available until February 13th. Additionally, purchasing 1984’s Threads may also have to wait until February 13th.
I had seen somewhere that a Piranha II: The Spawning Blu-ray from Scream Factory was supposed to hit this week, but apparently got pushed back. If you do find a copy somehow, awesome. If not, I’m sure it will be available eventually. Keep checking back.
Other classics that are hitting your local this week include The Hills Have Eyes, Savage Attraction, Gothic, Class of 1999 and Hack-O-Lantern. If you’re into all thing old-school, this is a pretty good week for you.

Class of 1999 (1990)

Gothic (1986)

Hack-O-Lantern (1988)

Synopsis:
When Tommy was a boy, he saw his grandpa (Hy Pyke), the leader of a vicious satanic cult, murder his father in a brutal ritual on Halloween night. Now Tommy (Gregory Scott Cummins) is 18 and grandpa is ready to indoctrinate him into the ways of the black arts. But as night approaches, someone dressed like a member of the cult, whose face is hidden behind a devilish mask, begins stalking and killing people connected to tommy. Could it be grandpa, Tommy himself, or someone even more sinister behind these increasingly brutal murders?
Hills Have Eyes, The (1977)

Horror master Wes Craven achieved critical and commercial success with the likes of Scream and A Nightmare on Elm Street – but for many genre fans, the director’s seminal 1977 effort The Hills Have Eyes remains his masterpiece. Taking a detour whilst on route to Los Angeles, the Carter family run into trouble when their camper van breaks down in the middle of the desert. Stranded, the family find themselves at the mercy of a group of monstrous cannibals lurking in the surrounding hills. With their lives under threat, the Carters are forced to fight back by any means necessary. As grueling a viewing experience today as it was upon initial release, The Hills Have Eyes stands alongside the likes of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Night of the Living Dead as one of the defining moments in American horror cinema.
It Takes From Within (2014)

Synopsis:
Inspired by arthouse films of the 1960s, writer/director Lee Eubanks creates a menacing world of dread, isolation, and unease in his feature film debut It Takes from Within.
An ominous, bleak atmosphere permeate a desolate town where an unnamed man and woman make preparations to attend a burial. The tension builds as the two experience increasingly disturbing incidents involving manifestations of dread and despair while the internment draws near.
Expressive cinematography, brooding sound design, and minimal use of spoken dialogue help create a surreal cinematic examination of the human condition in conflict with death. Tailored for audiences who take pleasure in interpreting a film on their own terms, without easy-to-follow guidelines, It Takes From Within is a cryptic journey into the dark void between reality and nightmare.
Projected Man, The (1966)

Dr. Paul Steiner and Dr. Christopher Mitchell have created a projection device that can transmit any object within a few miles of their new device. Re-Animator (1985) (Special Edition)
