The Rain Looks Like 28 Days Later Meets The Girl With All The Gifts

Netflix has released a short teaser for an upcoming TV series they’ll be bringing to their streaming service in the near future. Dubbed “The Rain”, the Scandinavian series created by Christian Potalivo, Jannik Tai Mosholt, and Esben Toft Jacobsen follows two siblings who must live in a world ravaged by a virus, leaving most of humanity dead. Together, they must find a way to survive in this new world.

Now, the reason I said that it looks like 28 Days Later is because of the obvious visuals. Shockingly empty city streets, the occasional littered corpse reminding everyone of the horror that has befallen the planet. As for the reference to The Girl With All The Gifts, that’s because it appears that the virus spreads through rain, much like how Colm McCarthy’s adaptation spreads through airborne fungal spores.

Personally, I’m very intrigued as to what this show has to offer. I hope that the series doesn’t devolve into the Young Adult trope of a love triangle, which causes a lot of strife. In a world like the one “The Rain” is creating, there are so many other interesting paths they can take.
