Long Weekend Cash in Place

We first told you about Urban Legends director Jamie Blanks being signed on for a remake of Long Weekend a while back (“Blanks on a Long Weekend” – May 2007), and today Variety is reporting that Arclight is all done acquiring financing for the film.
The original was the tale of a suburban couple heading out to nature for the weekend to try and rekindle their relationship. They disrespect nature at every turn, and pretty soon nature takes its revenge on them. The new version follows the same storyline, but something tells me there will be a lot more “message” this time out.
Blanks will roll on Long Weekend in Victoria, Australia come October 29th, 2007, so look for some casting news to crop up soon.
