Announcing the Fractured Visions Film Festival

Fractured Visions Film Festival director Phillip Escott has kindly provided us with a press release about the event, which will take place in Cardiff from September 29-30. If you’re in or around the Cardiff area, read on for the details!

Announcing: The Fractured Visions Film Festival!
Having established itself as the premier cult cinematic event in Cardiff, Fractured Visions is now expanding and is pleased to announce the launch of the Fractured Visions Film Festival!

Over the weekend of the 29th and 30th of September 2018, Fractured Visions will be bringing the best in independent horror to the BIG screen for a weekend filled with bloodshed, scares, laughs and downright terror! We aren’t interested in the big-budget studio fare that will be projected in every cinema across the globe; we want to promote the underdogs and the future of the genre. Films will be viewed by established filmmakers, sales agents and distribution heads so who knows where selected films will go from selection in Fractured Visions!

Of course, it’s impossible to acknowledge the future without paying respect to the past, and as such, we will be inviting a true genre legend to the festival and will be programming two classics from the genre’s glorious history. We will also be holding a masterclass with our genre icon that will be as illuminating for the film fans as it will the filmmakers in attendance.

Headed up by filmmaker Phillip Escott (Cruel Summer, Omega Rising: Remembering Joe D’Amato) and film academic Mikel J. Koven (La Dolce Morte: Vernacular Cinema and the Italian Giallo Film), the Fractured Visions Film Festival promises to be an event for both film lovers and filmmakers. We’ll be holding an epic pub quiz (with prizes galore to be won), an awards ceremony, Q&A’s with filmmakers and generally having a great time.

Submissions are now open, so if you’ve created a gut-crunching feature, a throat-ripping short or an eye-opening documentary that will set the horror world on fire – we want to see it! The festival will be taking place at Tramshed Cinema, where everyone will be welcome to kick back, grab a beer and enjoy the films in luxury thanks to Tramshed’s beautiful seating (courtesy of British Airlines).

The festival will be offering awards in the following categories for both features and shorts:

  • Best Film
  • Best Director
  • Best Performance
  • Best Script
  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Editing
