Netflix Renews The Punisher Solo Series for Season Two!

Published

on

I’m going to let you guys into a bit of my life here and let you know that I am basically in a constant state of kicking myself for not having found the time to watch a single episode of Netflix’s “The Punisher” solo series.

I love the f*cking Punisher and I think Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of Frank Castle is quite possibly the best version (love ya, Tom Jane) of the character we have ever seen on screen.

Big or small.

It’s with this in mind that we wanted to share the awesome news the Netflix has officially given “The Punisher” the greenlight for season 2!

Yes, Frank Castle will be back to shoot more people in the back of the face sooner than later. The announcement was made recently on Facebook and you can check out the post below.

After that make sure to hit us up and let us know what you thought of the first season of Netflix’s “The Punisher” solo series in the comments below or on social media!

“The Punisher” is executive produced by showrunner Steve Lightfoot, Jim Chory, and Jeph Loeb. The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

The cast features Jon Bernthal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Deborah Ann Woll, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Michael Nathanson, Jaime Ray Newman, Jason R Moore, and Paul Schulze.

Synopsis:
After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

Dread Central Presents: Announcing Our First Original Title THE GOLEM

Published

on

Readers, we couldn’t be more excited to bring you this news! As you know, we’ve been acquiring and releasing movies under the Dread Central Presents label for several months now and we have loads more titles under our belt, some announced and some yet-to-be-revealed. However, today Deadline has revealed the first original production in our Dread Central Presents library: The Golem!

Written by Ariel Cohen, The Golem is directed by the Paz Brothers, Yoav and Doron, who directed the 2015 Epic Pictures found footage hit JeruZalem. The film, which was shot secretly in Ukraine near Kiev last year and will be released in February of 2019, follows a woman’s tight-knit Jewish community that is besieged by foreign invaders. Turning to Jewish mysticism, she conjures a dangerous creature to protect her and her people. However, her creation may be more evil than she ever imagined.

Epic Pictures Group co-founder Shaked Berenson, who acts as executive producer alongside Patrick Ewald, Epic’s other co-founder, states, “With very few horror films originating in the Middle East, the micro-budget JeruZalem tapped an underserved market for Jewish folklore. When the Paz brothers, along with writer Ariel Cohen and producer Shalom Eisenbach approached us with The Golem, we recognized the potential and, because of our great collaboration on JeruZalem, we’re happy to jump on board this great team.

Doron Paz adds, “Having a much bigger budget this time allowed us to create the scope needed to re-tell the legend of the Golem,” while his brohter, Yoav, exclaims, “We are glad to have both producer Shalom Eisenbach and Epic believe in our vision and [are] excited to get it in front [audiences] early next year.” Footage will be shown to foreign buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

Starring in the film are Hani Furstenberg (Hanna), Ishai Golan (Benjamin), Lenny Ravich (Horrovits), Brynie Furstenberg (Perla), and Alexey Tritenko (Vladimir).

At the end of last year, while I was in Israel for the 2017 Utopia Festival, I had the opportunity to meet with the Paz brothers and see unfinished footage of the film. I don’t like to get too hyped for a movie prior to seeing it in theaters but I’ve got to tell you that this is something I’m really excited for the world to see, both on a personal level and as a fan of original horror!

Here are two exclusive images from the film!

Oats Studios Cancels FIREBASE Feature

Published

on

A few weeks back we let you guys know that director Neill Blomkamp and his indie production company Oats Studios kicked off a fan-funding campaign to bring us a feature-length version of their killer short film Firebase.

But we have some sad news today as it seems the campaign was unsuccessful and all contributors will be getting their money back. Damn.

Oats Studios broke the news on Twitter saying, “To all backers of Firebase. Oats will be refunding everyone who contributed completely. Unfortunately, we didn’t raise enough to do something truly awesome. We would rather over deliver than create an average film. We thank the thousands of people who did back us- hang in there.”

Are you bummed there won’t be a feature-length Firebase flick? Make sure to let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

Which Comes Next THE CONJURING 3 or THE CROOKED MAN?

Published

on

This September we will finally see the release of director Corin Hardy’s The Conjuring spin-off, The Nun. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, today we have word via Warner Bros. that another entry in The Conjuring Universe will hit July 3, 2019.

There’s no word on which film this might be, but it’s safe to assume it will be either the recently announced The Crooked Man spin-off, or the long-awaited third entry in the mothership franchise The Conjuring 3.

Last year, Wan spoke about both films saying, “We’ve been working hard on Conjuring 3. Of course, that is something that I am not neglecting. The Conjuring films are still the mothership and the mothership needs to be strong. The mothership needs to be strong for all these other jet fighters to shoot out of. So, we’re in the midst of working on the script, and still hashing [it] out. We want to make sure that the script is in a really good place. With how much people have loved the first two Conjuring, I don’t want to rush into the third one if possible.”

Speaking about The Crooked Man spin-off, Wan explains that the film is in, “…early stages, kind of like cooking away. But we think we have a really exciting story. What we want to do, with The Conjuring universe, is we want each of our little offshoots to have a very different flavor, right? So, for example, Annabelle is the classic sort-of haunted doll subgenre. And with The Crooked Man, I would love to push it more down somewhat of that dark fairytale, and more whimsical, subgenre. I love the idea that, within the Conjuring universe, each of our little movies all have their own flavor, so that way they don’t feel like they’re the same films.”

Which film do you HOPE is next up in The Conjuring Universe? Personally, I really want to see more of this crooked fellow before diving into the further adventures of the Warrens. But all the same, make sure to hit us up and let us know what YOU think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
